H. J. Niemann, Die Strategie der Vernunft (1993). Popper e.g. wrote about my book (translated from German): "... I like it because of its intelligible and unpretentious style. In German books this is seldom met, even in those which stand up for critical rationalism." And: "on the whole it seems to me, that what you want to say is said excellently - it hits the nail on the head - and not by chance! (also it is very original)."

Why 'original' ? Popper taught his students (see Bartley): never try to be original! So I learned: If you don't try to be original what finally remains is your personal style.

After having finished my book "The Strategy of Rationality" I sent it to Sir Karl Popper. Since then I was in correspondence with him and later I enjoyed visiting Popper at his home in Kenley. Popper said very friendly words about my book, even though in it he was criticised sometimes. The points of my criticism are: (i) criticism is not "the only justification of rationality"; (ii) ethics as a science seems possible to me; and (iii) being rational is not a decision made from an irrational position. Poppers remarks about the irrational decision in favour of rationality (see "Open Society II" ) have encouraged many philosophers to excuse their own irrationality until now. That was really not what Popper intended to do.
